Special Features at the 2008 Show

Honor Flight Michigan
This year we are proud to host Honor Flight Michigan. This organization sends our World War II Veterans to the memorial that has been dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices in Washington D.C., free of charge. They will be on hand to take contributions and sell Honor Flight merchandise. Go to

www.honorflightmichigan.com

Below are images of a recent Honor Flight which flew over 40 WWII Veterans to their WWII Memorial in Washington DC where they were met by General Colin Powell and Senator Bob Dole who thanked them for their service. The trip also included a stop at Arlington National Cemetery where a wreath was placed in their name at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

In 2007 Honor Flight Michigan made ten such trips flying over 400 veterans to Washington. Each vet receives free transportation to and from the airport, a breakfast at the airport, free round trip airfare, a goody bag with snacks & a camera, a Honor Flight t-shirt, lunch at the memorial and the thanks of a nation indebted to their service and sacrifices.

Free of charge to all veterans, Honor Flight relies strictly on donations from the public. Area schools alone contributed enough in 2007 to send five groups of veterans on Honor Flights at the cost of $350.00 per veteran. The Michigan Toy Soldier Company of Royal Oak is proud that we were able to raise enough to sponsor two veteran from the admission fees from the 2007 summer MHC show.
